Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
