And mention Ibrahim in the Book; surely he was a truthful man, a prophet. 41 He said to his father: 'O father, why worship that which can neither see nor hear, nor helps you in anything? 42 “O my father, indeed a knowledge has come to me which did not come to you – therefore follow me, I will show you the Straight Path.” 43 O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient. 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile' 46 'Peace be on you' he (Abraham) said, 'I shall call upon my Lord to forgive you, for to me He has been gracious. 47 "And I will turn away from you (all) and from those whom ye invoke besides Allah: I will call on my Lord: perhaps, by my prayer to my Lord, I shall be not unblest." 48 So, when he went apart from them and that they were serving, apart from God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each We made a Prophet; 49 And we gave them of Our mercy, and assigned to them a high and true renown. 50
