And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They said: We shall by no means cease to be its votaries till Moses return unto us. 91 (Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong, 92 That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order? 93 Aaron said, "Son of my mother! Do not seize me by my beard nor by my head. I was afraid that you would say, 'You have caused dissension among the Children of Israel and did not pay heed to my words.'" 94 (Moses) said: "What then is thy case, O Samiri?" 95 He said, "I perceived what they did not see. So I took a handful [of dust] from the footprint of the Messenger and threw it in [the calf]. That is what my inner self prompted me to do." 96 Musa said: begone thou! verily it shall be thine in life to say no contact; and verily thine is an appointment which thou shalt by no means fail. And look at thy god to which thou hast been assiduous; we shall surely burn it, and we shall scatter it into the sea a wide scattering. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 And so We narrate to you the stories of the past, and We have given you a remembrance from Us. 99 Whoever disregards (the Quran) will be heavily burdened with sin on the Day of Judgment 100 they will abide in this [state,] and grievous for them will be the weight [of that burden] on the Day of Resurrection 101 On the day when the trumpet will be sounded We will raise the criminals from their graves and their eyes will be turned blue and blind. 102 They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]." 103 We know best what they say, when the fairest of them in course would say: You tarried but a day. 104
