۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
