۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
