But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
