And when your Lord called to Moses, saying: 'Go to the harmdoing nation, 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst; and thou art of the ingrates. 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Pharaoh said: 'And what is the Lord of the Worlds' 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 'Do you not hear' said he (Pharaoh) to those around him. 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white unto the beholders. 33
