And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
