The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
