The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
