Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 143 so fear you God, and obey you me.' 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 "Do you think that you will remain here peacefully forever 146 among gardens and fountains, 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill. 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 Who corrupt the land and do not reform it." 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 Thou art but a human being like unto us. So bring thou a sign if thou art of the truth-tellers. 154 He said, "Here is a she-camel. She shall have her turn of drinking, as you have yours, each on an appointed day, 155 so do her no harm, or the punishment of an awful day will befall you." 156 But they cruelly slaughtered her - and then they had cause to regret it: 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 159
