Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 And then there cometh unto them that which they had been promised. 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
Almighty Allah's Truth.
