Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And lower thy wing (in kindness) unto those believers who follow thee. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
Almighty Allah's Truth.
End of Surah: The Poets (Alshu'araa'). Sent down in Mecca after The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah) before The Ant (Al-Naml)
