۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Are we then not to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
