۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
