۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
