(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 And We saved him and his family from the great affliction. 76 And made his progeny to endure (on this earth); 77 And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all the worlds' 79 Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 80 Indeed, he was of Our believing servants. 81 We drowned all the others (besides Noah and his people). 82 ۞ And verily of his sect was Ibrahim. 83 When he came to his Lord with a pure heart [attached to Allah Alone and none else, worshipping none but Allah Alone true Islamic Monotheism, pure from the filth of polytheism]. 84 and asked his father and his people, "What is that you worship? 85 Do you want [to bow down before] a lie - [before] deities other than God? 86 What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds? 87 He then shot a glance at the stars. 88 Then he said: Surely I am sick (of your worshipping these). 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 and he turned to their idols and asked them, "Do you eat? 91 What is wrong with you that you do not speak?" 92 Then he slipped unto them striking them with the right hand. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve, 95 When Allah hath created you and what ye make? 96 They said, 'Build him a building, and cast him into the furnace!' 97 And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased. 98 He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me! 99 My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous." 100 So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." 102 But as soon as the two had surrendered themselves to [what they thought to be] the will of God, and [Abraham] had laid him down on his face, 103 And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! 104 you have indeed fulfilled your dream. Thus do We reward the good-doers.” 105 This is indeed the manifest trial.' 106 And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram); 107 And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 110 He was one of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants are some who do good, but some who wrong themselves. 113
