And We have not created the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose; this is what the disbelievers assume; therefore ruin is for the disbelievers, by the fire. 27 Do We consider the righteously striving believers equal to the evil-doers in the land? Are the pious ones equal to those who openly commit sin? 28 (This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect. 29 We bestowed upon David (an illustrious son), Solomon. How excellent a servant (of Ours he was)! Indeed he constantly turned to Us in devotion. 30 Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; 31 he said, "My love of horses for the cause of God has made me continue watching them until sunset, thus making me miss my prayer". 32 (Then he said): Bring them back to me, and fell to slashing (with his sword their) legs and necks. 33 Surely We put Solomon to the test and cast upon his throne a mere body. Thereupon he penitently turned (to Us). 34 Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." 35 Then We subjected the wind to his power, to flow gently to his order, Whithersoever he willed,- 36 and the Satans, every builder and diver 37 And others bound in fetters. 38 “This is Our bestowal. So give or withhold as you wish without account.” 39 And indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return. 40
