Then a man endowed with faith, from Pharaoh's folk, who had kept his faith hidden, said: “Do you kill a person simply because he says: 'My Lord is Allah' even though he brought to you clear Signs from your Lord? If he is a liar, his lying will recoil upon him; but if he is truthful, you will be smitten with some of the awesome consequences of which he warns you. Allah does not guide to the Right Way any who exceeds the limits and is an utter liar. 28 O My people! yours is the dominion today: ye being overcomers in the land; but who will succour us aginst the scourge of God if it cometh unto us! Fir'awn said: I shew you only that which I see, and I guide you but to the path of rectitude. 29 Then said he who believed, 'My people, truly I fear for you the like of the day of the parties, 30 the like of the case of Noah's people, Ad, Thamood, and those after them; and God desires not wrong for His servants.' 31 And, my nation, I fear for you the Day of Calling, 32 the Day when you will [wish to] turn your backs and flee, having none to defend you against God: for he whom God lets go astray can never find any guide. 33 Before this, Joseph brought you clear signs, but you continued to be doubtful of that which he brought. When he passed away you said: "Allah will never send another Messenger after him." As such Allah leads astray the sinner, the doubter. 34 Those who wrangle concerning the revelations of Allah without any warrant that hath come unto them, it is greatly hateful in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who believe. Thus doth Allah print on every arrogant, disdainful heart. 35 Pharaoh said, "O Haman, build for me a lofty building so that I may gain access 36 Of reaching the tracts of heaven and look at the god of Moses, though I think that he is a liar." Thus were the evil deeds of Pharaoh made to look attractive to him, and he was hindered from the path. So the stratagem of Pharaoh was bound to perish. 37
