Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HA MIM. 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 And they say, “Our hearts are covered against the affair you call us to, and there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you – therefore mind your own business, we are minding ours.” 5 Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 The righteously striving believers will have a never-ending reward". 8
