Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HaMeem. 1 This is a revelation from the Compassionate, the Merciful. 2 A Book the verses of which are explained in detail, the Qur’an in Arabic for people of intellect. 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah, therefore follow the right way to Him and ask His forgiveness; and woe to the polytheists; 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
