Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 And hath placed the moon therein for a light, and hath made the sun a lamp? 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
