We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- 40 On that Day no cousin shall help his cousin and they shall not be helped 41 Save those on whom Allah will have mercy. Verily He! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
