Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
