What! Do they, in whose hearts is a disease, fancy that Allah will not expose concealed enmities? 29 And if We willed, We could show them to you, and you would know them by their mark; but you will surely know them by the tone of [their] speech. And Allah knows your deeds. 30 And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allah] and the patient, and We will test your affairs. 31 Surely those who disbelieve and turn away from Allah's way and oppose the Apostle after that guidance has become clear to them cannot harm Allah in any way, and He will make null their deeds. 32 Believers, obey Allah and His Messenger and never let your labors go in vain! 33 ۞ Indeed those who disbelieved and prevented others from Allah’s way, and then died as disbelievers – so Allah will never forgive them. 34 And be not slack so as to cry for peace and you have the upper hand, and Allah is with you, and He will not bring your deeds to naught. 35 The life of this world is but play and an amusement. If you believe and are cautious, He will give you your wage, and will not ask for your possessions. 36 If He asks you for them, and presses you, you are niggardly, and He brings to light your rancour. 37 It is you who are asked to spend for the cause of God, but some of you behave in a niggardly way. Whoever behaves miserly does so against his own soul. God is Self-sufficient and you are poor. If you were to turn away from Him, He would just replace you with another people, who will not be like you. 38
