The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
