We indeed created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him, and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein. 16 Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes. 17 There is not a word he utters but an observer is ready (to make note of it). 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!" 19 And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat. 20 Every soul will be accompanied (by an angel) behind him and another as a witness. 21 Certainly you were heedless of it, but now We have removed from you your veil, so your sight today is sharp. 22 And his companions shall say: This is what is ready with me. 23 The command was given: “Cast into Hell every hardened, stubborn unbeliever, 24 "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions; 25 Who had set up another god with God. Cast him into severe torment." 26 ۞ And his comrade shall say, 'Our Lord, I made him not insolent, but he was in far error.' 27 Allah will say: wrangle not in My presence, and I had already proferred unto you the threat. 28 The Sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed, and I am not unjust (to the least) to the slaves." 29
