It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. 16 When the two Receivers receive (him), seated on the right hand and on the left, 17 Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it). 18 And the hardship of death came with the truth; “This is what you were escaping from!” 19 And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat. 20 Each soul will come with a driver and a witness. 21 [and will be told:] "Indeed, unmindful hast thou been of this [Day of Judgment]; but now We have lifted from thee thy veil, and sharp is thy sight today!" 22 And his comrade shall say, 'This is what I have, made ready.' 23 (It will be said): 'Indeed, cast into Gehenna (Hell) every deviating unbeliever, 24 Forbidder of good, exceeder of limits, doubter, 25 "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty." 26 ۞ Man's other self' will say: "O our Sustainer! It was not I that led his conscious mind into evil [nay,] but it had gone far astray [of its own accord]! 27 Allah will say: "Dispute not in front of Me, I had already, in advance, sent you the threat. 28 My Word is not changed; and never do I inflict the least wrong upon My servants.” 29
