Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 and those speeding along with ease, 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 and the Day of Judgment will inevitably take place. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
