Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
