The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 By the roof elevated. 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 No one can avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
