So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: "[He is but] a poet - let us wait what time will do unto him"? 30 Say: 'Await! I shall be awaiting with you.' 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 Then let them produce speech the like thereof, if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators? 35 Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They have no faith. 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Or have they a ladder by which they could [ascend to ultimate truths and] listen [to what is beyond the reach of human perception]? Let, then, any of them who have listened [to it] produce a manifest proof [of his knowledge]! 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Do they have knowledge of the unseen, thus, are able to predict (the future)? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
