The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
