(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
