The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
