The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
