The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
