The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
