The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
