The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
