The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
