The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
