The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
