The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
