The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right. 38
