The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
