The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right. 38
