The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
