The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
