The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
